How to Apply

Many QCC students qualify to attend for free. The first step is to apply. Please follow the steps below to get started.

Applying for financial aid is not difficult and it's free! Just follow these simple steps and you're on your way. If you have any questions about the process or need help applying, please contact us. We will be happy to help you.

  1. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) electronically.  It is necessary for you and your parent (if required to provide their information) to sign your FAFSA using your FSA ID.  Be sure to designate Quinsigamond Community College (Federal School Code 002175) in the College release section. Make sure you select the application for the correct academic year. Please read a list of common mistakes to avoid
  2. Allow 3-5 business days for your FAFSA to be processed. You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR), which you should review for accuracy.
  3. If additional documentation is required you will receive a letter from the Financial Aid Office. It is important to respond to these requests as quickly as possible.

Please Note: You must first complete the FAFSA. Then the Financial Aid Office reviews your application to determine if additional documents are necessary. If more information is required, we must wait until you respond to this request before we can continue working on your file. Once your file is complete, it can take 2-8 weeks (depending on the time of year) before you will receive an Award Letter. Although you can submit your FAFSA as early as January preceding the next fall semester, the Financial Aid Office will begin reviewing applications at the end of March. The busiest time of year in the Financial Aid Office is April through August preceding the fall semester. It is not unusual for the entire process to take 12-16 weeks. You must plan ahead to receive financial aid by the time your bill is due.
