IDS 200 Course Description: The course focuses on dystopian and utopian worlds as presented in literature, film, music, art and other forms of modern media. By examining fictional examples of “worlds gone wrong,” students learn to recognize and analyze contemporary social problems. Themes and subjects of exploration include, but are not limited to, identities, censorship, civil rights and liberties, personal choice, revolution, government regulations, privacy vs. security, terrorism, and modern technology.
